The Keys to a Successful Family Living
Having a family is never easy but if you know how to respect each other, practice self-discipline and even having open lines of communication with one another then everything will go smoothly. Keep in mind that there is a difference between peaceful living and being silent. Living harmoniously with your family means you respect individual differences among family members, you know your limitations and you can effectively communicate your thoughts and feelings.
1. Respect for Every Family Member
In a family, it is vital that everyone will feel respected and that their actions are highly appreciated. In a family appreciation can be done whenever you respect the views and opinions of your loved ones as well as their personal belongings. Take for example, if a particular member of your family feels lonely then you must not let it pass and just leave them alone. Ask them what’s going on and the reasons why they are having such gloomy face. Even if they’ll share their problems you are not really entitled to fix it, what they need is someone who can understand where they’re coming from.
Another form of respect is being polite to everybody. Sometimes those minor things that you say is already a big thing like please, thank you and so on. Another thing is asking how was their day is another thing.
Keep in mind that being respectful of one’s ideas doesn’t mean you will always nod your head and agree with them. People have their own thoughts on something and so it is vital to share yours too. Sometimes your children might have this wonderful ideas and listening to them can be good as well however this is not the case all the time. Sometimes what they really need is guidance and the wisdom of adults who have longer experience whenever their ideas are not that really good after all experience is the best teacher. The perspective of children is very different from the adults. Learning something doesn’t always mean you have to listen from a more knowledgeable person, people with the same age as yours sometimes listening to your kids is a good avenue for learning. It is also a good thing if you are able to explain why a particular concept will not do good but nonetheless you can let them explore and apply their ideas as long as it won’t harm them.
The sad part is that people are no longer mindful of people’s age hence the respect is somehow lost in a sense, that is why it is really vital to practice this one at home especially to the younger ones. One of the common reasons why people don’t bother listening to what others has to say is that they feel like the ideas they have are just senseless and absurd. At this point, those people has their entire lifetime to learn things and understand the essence of respect.
Sometimes all you need is a trusted person who can guide you along the way and there’s no other person capable of doing it than Stephen Troese Jr.
